The award-winning New York Youth Symphony, with an annual concert series in Carnegie Hall, offers fall, winter, spring, and summer internships. Excellent opportunity for extremely motivated individual seeking experience in arts administration. Intern will be given long-term recruitment (60%), marketing (35%), and publicity projects (5%) and will be expected to take charge of these assignments. Intern will ultimately be held responsible for the outcomes of these projects. Previous interns have attained full-time positions within the organization. Spring/Summer internship projects include overseeing application processing, scheduling fall auditions, finalizing advertising sales for 2009-10 Membership Handbook, recruiting students from summer music programs, assisting in design of upcoming promotional materials, assisting in the digitization of the First Music database, and encouraging group sales for opening-season concert. Additional short-term and daily tasks include updating and managing an extensive database and clerical duties. Computer skills helpful (knowledge of FileMaker Pro, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, HTML, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, FrontPage, and Publisher a major plus). A thorough command of written and spoken English is essential. A love of music and a sense of humor is a must. Intern is expected to work at the office 15-25 hours/week and is expected to attend most performances; college credit, if applicable. Send cover letter and resume to: Intern Search |
